In Memory of César Chávez
Paul Martinez
The artwork was created in 1993 at Self Help Graphics, a community-based art center in Los Angeles.
It features several symbols related to Chávez's legacy, including the United Farm Workers (UFW) logo and a Brahma bull.
The prominent text "NO GRAPES" refers to the historic grape boycott organized by Chávez and the UFW to protest working conditions for farmworkers.
The print is part of various museum collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Blanton Museum of Art.
